2018 (Week 1): The Self-Love Mission

Happy New Year Lovelies!!!!

What a year 2017 was for many of us!!! I can specifically say for myself, that is was a very trying year in my personal life but a fruitful and abundant year everywhere else. That everywhere includes the waistline.  Now before I go any further, I will not, I repeat WILL NOT make this a post focused on “New Year, New Me”….because I am actually finally at a point in life where I’m literally IN LOVE with the woman I’ve become.  So this year it is more about self-care and proving that love to myself each and every day this year.

Part of loving yourself is taking care of yourself from the inside out.  So one of my new life goals (as this will go beyond 2018) is to always put my body’s health and wellness first. So many African American Men and Women are dying younger and younger, and it is not only alarming but in many cases preventable. Part of my walk this year is to regularly detox throughout the year to keep my body energized and operating at its peak level as much as possible. My other goals are; to find activities that relieve my body and mind of clutter and stress (I am currently looking into spiritual meditative activities, scheduling alone time, solo vacations, and massages), changing how I view food, and finally reevaluating my surrounding energy (re-categorizing friendships, prioritizing who and what  is truly important).

So week one has been about re-centering my body slowly.  My first step is through infusing my drinking water with ingredients that are known to cleanse, energize, purify, and balance the organs.  This week I had fun making this Citrus Cucumber Water, check out the ingredients below:

  • Lemon
  • Lime
  • Grapefruit
  • Cucumber
  • Fresh Mint
  • Ice
  • Water

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. In a pitcher – combine water and ice ( about ¾th of the glass)
  2. Add  1 lemon, 1 lime, 1 grapefruit, 1/2 cucumber and 3 – 5 whole mint leaves till the pitcher is full
  3. Stir and left sit for 1 hour in the refrigerator
  4. Enjoy!

The goal is to post a new recipe once or twice a month that I’m trying that is focused on holistically improving the body. Try some of them with me!!!! Comment!!!! Let me know what you think!!!
