My Experience with Inositol: From Cysta to Cysta

Good Morning Cystas,

So if you have PCOS than you may or may not have heard of the use of Inositol to treat symptoms associated with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. So what is Inositol you may wonder? Inositol is part of the B vitamin family that is used as an aid for several disorders including: diabetic nerve pain, panic disorder, high cholesterol, insomnia, cancer, depression, schizophrenia, Alzhemer’s disease, attention deficit-hyperactivity disorder, autism, hair growth, mood management, psoriasis, and most recently fertility issues with PCOS. Currently there are two types of Inositol present, Myoinositol and Dchiroinositol.  Research has shown that taking inositol supplements have shown improvements in women with insulin issues (like myself) and free testosterone levels which improve fertility outcomes. Now me myself, I am not in the place of trying to conceive due to being very single, but what got my attention mainly was help with sleep disorders and insulin sensitivity that could lead to not only improvements in fertility, but overall weight loss.  Upon research the most popular supplement that is directly formulated for women with PCOS is Ovasitol (you can look into it at the link here Buy Here) which is a hybrid of both types of inositol to help regulate hormonal function and insulin sensitivity levels for women suffering from PCOS.  However, the starting price is $75.00, which was a little more than I was willing to invest for a natural remedy to some of my symptoms.

After doing more research, I saw that many women found success with Jarrow Insositol (pictured in this post and you can purchase here (Buy Here), in terms of reducing stress, regulating moods, and most importantly for me being able to fall asleep. I can personally say that while being on the inositol powder, I am able to sleep better, as one of my biggest PCOS related issues is insomnia.  I can also say that my insulin sensitivity has improved due to recent blood work, but I still have a long long way to go in  terms of battling my blood sugar levels while being insulin resistant.  As for weight loss, the results are inconclusive because I also take metformin along with the powder. However, it is safe to say that it is contributing to my weight loss results and regularity of my menstrual cycle, as studies have proven that the combination of the two is positive on achieving both. If you are trying to conceive, this also may be a wonderful combination to stimulate ovulation for you. As you know the most heartbreaking symptom of PCOS is fertility struggles.  I can say that my period has never been more regular in years, which includes being on birth control for the past 15 years of my life.  Once I switched off of birth control and started to really research proper supplementation to ease my symptoms, I saw a major difference. I am not a doctor, so I repeat, do not just try it without consulting the safety for your body first, but if you are given the green light I definitely suggest adding it to your regimen.  All of the results I have personally experienced have been positive; less hirsutism, better sleep, and regularity with my hormones.  My only other caution would be to start small and build up with your inositol to see how your body reacts before doing the full recommended dose of 2500mg a day.  Keep following my journey as I release other supplements that I take to help keep me regulated.

Have a Wonderful Day Loves,

LoLo
