Fit Cyster Recipes: Brussels & Bacon

Good Evening Loves,

So one of the things I do actually enjoy about PCOS is that I can eat a little bit of fat and be okay, as carbohydrates and most dairy are my enemies. Tonight I decided to follow a Keto friendly & Whole 30 friendly recipe that is an awesome dish for PCOS: Brussel Sprouts and Bacon!!!

Let me begin by saying that brussel sprouts are one of my favorite vegetables. Secondly, I rarely eat pork but will eat bacon because bacon is just amazing. So it is a no brainer to combine these two in a single dish.  This simple dish is filled with flavor and brussel sprouts are known to excrete excess hormones from the body. There are also studies that show regular consumption of brussel sprouts, cabbage, and other vegetables from the brassica family help to prevent cancer. What more reason do you need to eat brussel sprouts.  Here is the simple recipe below:

Ingredients

1. One bag of brussel sprouts

2. One package of bacon

3. Himilayan Sea Salt

4. Black Peppercorn

5. 2 tablespoons of honey

6. Olive Oil (or your choice of cooking fat, I use some of the actual bacon drippings with the olive oil)

7. 1/2 cup of water

Cook 7 strips of bacon (or as much bacon you would like to mix into the brussel sprouts late) on medium heat until desired finish (I like mine a little less crispy so my bacon is finished within 5-7 minutes).

Remove bacon from skillet and set aside to cool.

Add 1/2 cup of water, olive oil, and half the bacon drippings into the skillet and heat on medium heat until you see it bubble up.

Add the brussel sprouts and turn down between medium to low heat and cover, stirring every 2 – 3 minutes until tender. This usually takes 20 to 25 minutes.

Season until desired flavor is reached and crumble bacon into the brussel sprouts

Add 2 tablespoons of honey and toss sprouts  and bacon together.

Serve and Enjoy!!!!

Love,

LoLo
